Application Procedure for
Water Stain Removal
NOT FOR USE ON PLASTICS, ACRYLICS OR POLYCARBONATES
For best results please familiarize yourself with products and their
correct application before beginning process.
Note-Nitrile gloves are included and recommended for sensitive skin
protection.
Step One
Wash all glass that is going to be treated today to remove any grit
or salt crystals from the surface. Prop windshield wipers out of the
way to ease procedure. Lightly spray glass pane with water and then
apply a small amount of Compound Lx using the applicator in the top
of the jar. Using the blue handled scrubber provided, scrub in small
areas until spotting is gone, being sure to keep surface moist and
Compound Lx pasty at all times. Continue until the window is entirely
free of stains. Continue with the cleaning, the heavier the staining
the longer the initial cleaning will take. Pay special attention to
edges and corners, using applicator from top of jar if needed in the
smaller areas. Wash the entire glass surfaces and surrounding areas
to remove all traces of Compound Lx. Thoroughly dry the glass and other
areas, especially overhanging areas that may cause drips onto glass.
Any water left will prevent Protectorant 98 from sealing the glass.
Steps Two and Three should not be performed if glass
is hotter than 120°F.
Step Two
Using a clean, dry cotton rag wipe glass using 70% isopropyl or denatured
alcohol. This makes glass squeaky clean and free of any moisture, fingerprints,
silicone, salt, soap, etc. From this point on no water or dirt must
come in contact with window until the completion of Step Three.
Step Three
Before beginning Step Three make sure at least
25 square feet of glass is prepped and ready. Protectorant 98 evaporates
quickly and should be used within 1/2 hour of activating vial. To
apply Protectorant 98 activate vial by pressing once on the dot in
the middle of the vial. Squeeze a small amount onto a cotton applicator
provided in kit, then apply sparingly, first horizonally, then in
overlapping vertical strokes, being sure to cover entire surface.
Note- Protectorant 98 doesn’t
haze during application. Change cotton pad as needed and continue until
all surfaces are coated.
If after completing Step Three you still have Protectorant
98 left use
remainder to recoat windshield areas. Leave coating on all surfaces approximately
an hour, then wash all areas well with mild boat soap and water, squeegie
or chamois windows and they are done for a year.
Areas with alot of exposure and windshield wiper action
may need reapplication before the year is over. If so just repeat Steps
Two and Three as needed.
Annual Re-Treatment is the same as the first treatment
except instead of removing staining with Step One you are simply removing
remaining Protectorant 98 and then reapplying.
Notice: In extreme cases,
Compound Lx may dry out teak decks and re-oiling may be necessary.
Keep dry teak areas well flushed with water during application of CGS.
